Why the New Year Matters for Our Ministry

And just like that, the Christmas tree has been taken down.

The presents are all opened, and the lights are gone.

Christmas and the New Year have come and gone, and we’ve entered into 2026.

There’s no telling what this year will bring. It may have in store some things that we never even considered as possibilities, or it may seem to be an average, unremarkable year. I have serious doubts about the latter though.

Our ministry means something to the people that we serve. To them, 2026 brings another chance at life and a brighter future free from fear and harm for them and their children.

But we’ve also been reminded recently that the work cannot be sustained by good will alone.

In order for us to continue our work of welcoming those that Jesus refers to as “the least of these,” we need your help.

You see, we help provide a safe and welcoming place for women and children in Calais as they are waiting out the cold of winter for their chance to enter into the new life they’re seeking.

Our fundraising is at a point that we may have to end our ministry if we can’t increase it, meaning that the women and children we serve will have a harder time finding a safe space off the street. I wouldn’t say it’s an emergency at this point, but there is an urgency about it that we need to act upon.

Please consider donating to our ministry fund, if you are able. Any gift is welcome, but if you are able to provide a monthly contribution of $30 or more, it would provide some stability so that we don’t have to get to this point in the future again.

If you would partner with us and our work, we would appreciate it more than we can express to you. We love this work, and it is essential that there are voices telling the people we serve that they are loved and welcome, even amid the cacophony of voices saying otherwise.

So if you can contribute financially,

you can find all the information you need at this link. Anything you can give means something to us and to the people we serve.

Anything you are able to give helps ensure that we can continue providing this space for the women and children from the migrant community that we serve.

Peace and blessings, my friends. Have a beautiful 2026!
