Hello, dear friends. As we continue toward the light at the end of the tunnel that
hopefully means an end to the pandemic, we are reminded again of how good we’ve
had things this whole time. Neither of us has been out of work, and neither of us
has become ill with COVID-19. We complain about not being able to do all the
things we want to do, but despite the complaints our lives have been good. We have
had security in housing, food, and transportation.
The exile doesn’t have the same relative security and safety that we have in America.
In our last letter, we discussed the reasons that people flee from their homes and
make their way through Europe. Here, we would like to discuss their experience in
Calais itself.
